  • CSoI Ph.D. Student, Dan Zhang receives IBM Ph.D. Fellowship, Also named a Finalist for Facebook's Fellowship Program

    The Center for Science of Information is pleased to announce that Ph.D. Student Dan Zhang has received the 2012-2013 IBM Ph.D. Fellowship. The IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Awards Program is an intensely competitive worldwide program, which honors exceptional Ph.D. students who have an interest in solving problems that are important to IBM and fundamental to innovation in many academic disciplines and areas of study. Additionally, Dan was also honored by being named a finalist for the Facebook Fellowship this year.

    Dan is a Ph.D. student in the Computer Science Department at Purdue University and is working with Prof. Luo Si in the research areas of information retrieval, data mining and applied machine learning since then. Dan actively participates in and is supported by the Center for Science of Information (CSoI) , NSF Science and Technology Center, to work on research problems of social media analysis together with CSoI faculty members Prof. Luo Si and Prof. Vernon Rego .
