  • The Center for Science of Information (CSoI) brings together researchers from diverse fields and organizations to develop models and methods for diverse applications. Together, CSoI and its strategic partners engage in research, education, and diversity efforts that enhance CSoI’s outreach and promote its contributions to the broader public and scientific community.

    Helsinki Institute for Information Technology (HIIT), Helsinki

    CSoI's formal collaboration with HIIT involves:

    • Bringing together scientists from computer, natural, behavioral, and social sciences to advance the exploration of computational modeling and data analysis and ubiquitous information and communications technology (ICT)
    • Attracting a postdoc who will spend one year with a Center faculty member and one year with a HIIT faculty member to conduct collaborative research
    • Cross-listing seminars and publications across institutions
    • Cross-referencing all online lectures and workshops
    • Participating in sponsored workshops of both institutions, including the co-organization of these workshops
    • Offering opportunities to visit these institutions to start collaborations
    • Locally sponsoring students for short research visits

    The Laboratory of Information, Network and Communication Sciences (LINCS) The Laboratory of Information, Network and Communication Sciences (LINCS) in France

    CSoI's formal collaboration with LINCS involves:

    • Cross-referencing all online lectures and workshops
    • Participating in sponsored workshops of both institutions, including the co-organization of these workshops
    • Offering opportunities to visit these institutions to start collaborations
    • Locally sponsoring students for short research visits
    • Leveraging the agendas of both institutions by jointly submitting projects for industry collaboration and funding

    EAFIT, Columbia EAFIT, Columbia

    CSoI's formal collaboration with EAFIT involves:

    • Making educational materials accessible to students in Colombia via translation into Spanish, dissemination from hubs in Colombia, and instructor development
    • Conducting personnel exchanges (e.g. Juan Lalinde, a faculty member from EAFIT, attended summer school and will spend a portion of his sabbatical at the Center. Center member Ananth Grama visited EAFIT.)
    • Leading research interactions (e.g. the Center is helping universities and government agencies in Colombia set up data repositories, frameworks for interoperability, and support for analytics to catalog and federate all data relating to the country's biodiversity)
    • Engaging in other interactions such as classroom projects and reciprocal visits

    ETH, Zurich ETH, Zurich

    CSoI's formal collaboration with ETH involves:

    • Organizing personnel exchanges in which faculty and students have opportunities for visiting and spending time at partner institutions
    • Providing infrastructure for seeding and support for executing joint projects
    • Cross-listing seminars and publications across institutions
    • Cross-referencing all online lectures and workshops
    • Participating in sponsored workshops of both institutions, including the co-organization of these workshops
    • Offering opportunities to visit these institutions to start collaborations
    • Locally sponsoring students for short research visits
