Marianne’s research with CSoI began while a Master’s student at CSoI partner University of Illinois – Urbana – Champaign working with CSoI Faculty member Todd Coleman. Her work at that time was at the nexus of information theory and neuroscience studying and modeling pathways of addiction using an inverse control model. This work took her to another partner with CSoI at UC San Diego where she completed her PhD work in Bioengineering in 2018 where she was part of the team that developed a novel deep learning framework and an optogenetic switch turning mammalian genes on and off via far-red light. Dr. Catanho is now a Data Scientist at GenMark Diagnostics in San Diego, CA.

McKeith hails from Indianapolis, Indiana. His undergraduate and graduate research was funded by CSoI and advised by faculty member Claudio Aguilar. Throughout his near decade-long experience in the Center, McKeith participated in numerous events hosted by CSoI such as summer schools, Data Science and Interdisciplinary Teams annual trainings. His team was selected by the Center to continue collaborations throughout the year by combining statistics, data science, and biology quantifying analysis of yeast cell morphology defects. He completed his PhD training at Purdue University in summer of 2021 with a focus on cellular and molecular biology. Dr. Pearson is pursuing research in industry with a future goal of attaining a post-doctoral position and continuing in academia at a top research institution.

Abram was with the CSoI throughout his undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral training at Purdue, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. A native of Indiana, Abram’s research interests focused on developing efficient algorithms for data compression/transmission and of learning/statistical inference. Abram was an active participant in many CSoI training workshops during his tenure with the Center. He worked closely with CSoI Faculty Wojciech Szpankowski, Ananth Grama, and Yuliy Baryshnikov. Dr. Magner is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at University of Albany, SUNY.

Pablo came to CSoI as a graduate student in computer science focusing on network analysis and applications. He initially took on a special project applying computer science applications at the nexus of chemical engineering and biology. Pablo served on the graduate leadership committee of the Center and actively participating in many CSoI training workshops. He was a member of a CSoI student research team working on interdisciplinary problems. He completed his PhD work with Dr. Jennifer Neville, CSoI Faculty member in 2017. Dr. Robles is currently an Assistant Professor at Notre Dame with an appointment in iCeNSA: Interdisciplinary Center for Network Science & Applications.

Christine was an active participant and graduate student leader with CSoI from 2010-2015. Her research focused on differential privacy theory in social networks and security issues in computing. Christine was a leader in our early efforts to bring CSoI students together to learn from one another with our faculty and to develop our programs. She assisted with instruction at our first summer school, as well as spending a year at our partner Howard University to mentor undergraduate students in computer science. Christine completed her PhD work with CSoI Faculty member Chris Clifton in 2015. Dr. Task is currently Senior Research Scientist at Knexus Research Corporation in Washington D.C.
