  • CSoI Multidisciplinary Research & Data Science Annual Summer Workshop for Students and Postdocs, May 23-27, 2016, Purdue University. Information/Registration and schedule available soon at https://www.soihub.org/event.php?id=342 .

  • The fourth Biological Distributed Algorithms workshop, BDA 2016, will be held together with the annual Principles of Distributed Computing (PODC) conference in July, 2016, in Chicago. Details at http://www.podc.org/. All members of CSoI are welcome to attend.

Awards

  • Sergio Verdú received the 2016 National Academy of Sciences Award for Scientific Reviewing with the citation “for consistent and distinguished contributions of review material in information theory, and for a leading role in developing high-quality review journals covering broad areas of the information sciences."


Presentations

  • Venkat Anantharam presented a talk on "The Boolean model in the Shannon regime" at BITS 2016, the Bombay Information Theory Seminar, a Shannon Year event, held Jan. 1 -3 at IIT Bombay and TIFR in Mumbai.

  • Venkat Anantharam delivered a series of five lectures on "Information theoretic inequalities" at ATMW AP 2016, an Advanced Training in Mathematics School held under the auspices of the Indian National Center for Mathematics at IIT Bombay, Jan. 4 -8, 2016.

  • Join us online Friday Jan. 29th at 12 noon EST! Maurina L. Aranda will present "Building Capacity to Use Science for Sovereignty in Native Coastal Communities" followed by discussion. https://www.soihub.org/event.php?id=340
