Gulriz Kurban is starting as a postdoctoral researcher in the department of Computer Science at Howard University. She earned a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Chicago. Her dissertation topic was predicting the modular domain architecture of proteins. Gulriz worked as a scientific programmer in Dr. Terry Gaasterland's lab at Rockefeller University where she developed tools to select target proteins for structural genomics. As a postdoc she will do research in computational biology and mentor several undergraduate students sponsored by CSoI.
