Lab 1: Asymptotic Equipartition Property
Lab 2: Sequences and Pattern Matching
Lab 3: Markov Models for Text Analysis
Lab1: This laboratory is intended to shed insight on the distribution of sequences of randomly dis- tributed random variables.
Lab2: In this laboratory, we study the problem of pattern matching in sequences of data. This can be viewed as a combinatorial problem, in which we are searching in a deterministic sequence of characters, or it can be viewed as a probabilistic problem, in which we are searching in a sequence of characters that was randomly generated.
Lab3: In this activity, we take a preliminary look at how to model text using a Markov chain. What is a Markov chain? It is a stochastic (random) model for describing the way that a processes moves from state to state.
